I'm pretty excited to meet other vegans that might be living in the state!  I know of a few places in Birmingham in terms of restaurants and stores, but I would love to learn about good farmer's markets and other places in other cities and towns in central Alabama and the Birmingham metro area.  I look forward to communicating with you and learning about how to understand the rather un-vegan-friendly Alabama maybe in a new way.

I live in B'ham and just moved here last summer. I have been vegan for 3+ years. I would be interested in restaurants and stores you'd recommend, being new here. I lived in Montgomery, where there is a great farmer's market. Between here and there on I65 is my favorite fruit/vegetable stand, Durbin Farms. I sometimes even eat their ice cream, which is the best ever. Otherwise I eat Sorbet if I feel like something cold for a snack.

My wife and I are not gourmet eaters nor cooks - we can survive without anything too fancy. I am more "strict" than my wife about this.

Just found this website and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! "Gradual Vegetarian" in Mobile, AL here. Looking forward to meeting new like minded folks here. I am changing my lifestyle for health reasons more than anything else. i am Type 2 Diabetic and need to lose approx 40 lbs and then hopefully I will be able to get of the oral meds.

I am trying to cultivate my tastes for more leafy greens- so far I am OD-ing on baby spinich. I use it in place of lettice when I eat sandwiches or salads. I guess that is enough for now.
