Not a resident of Tucson, but I have a ton of family there, and visit there multiple times a year. Just got back from a visit actually.

I am a very new vegan, and I was discouraged in AZ as a whole (though Tucson was much better than Phoenix) There were stores, in fact I feel in love with a market in Tucson (jealous of not having it here)

Restaurants, and general outlook seemed so carnivorous though.

Was it just my lack of enlightenment as a visitor?

I'd really like to know because I am thinking of moving to Tucson in the next few years, but how vegan friendly would play a huge part (I live in Southern CA now, pretty vegan friendly)

Yes.

Just kidding ;-)

We have one vegan restaurant, Lovin' Spoonfuls.

We have some good stores and most of the restaurants make an effort to have vegan choices. Nothing like SoCal but better than Phx (I lived there before here). Please let me know when you visit next and I will be happy to cook for you and/or show you some good places to shop and eat.

What part of SoCal? My company is based in Moorpark, so I go out there at least once a year at review time (March/April-ish).

I miss not having anything like a Valley Produce here, but I'm still overall content, and can see how fast Tucson is trending toward more veg-friendly. Plus I'm a sucker for the desert!

Hi vegandeath-

So sorry for the late reply... I haven't had a chance to be on the forums much for quite a while.

I live in Huntington Beach which is part of Orange County (gag)

I almost ate at Lovin' Spoonfuls but my family wouldn't go with me... god forbid a vegan meal once....

I fell in love with Aqua Vita Natural Foods Market @ 2801 N Country Club Rd when I was there, I wish I had that store at my disposal on a daily basis.... I have too many big conglomerate markets in Orange County and not enough little ones

I will definitely let you know the next time I'm in Tucson

Hi Cece or any other Tucson vegans.  I moved here about 6 weeks ago and would love to visit with other vegans. Restaurant meet-ups would work for a start. Anybody up for that?
